Cassandra Gibson - Designer & Founder of CASIKA
My life journey so far has been amazing and I count my lucky stars daily for where I have been and what life lessons I have already learnt. I grew up in Umina Beach on the Central Coast of NSW and have always loved living close to the ocean.
Before creating CASIKA I was a professional dancer for 8 years, the highlight being the 4 years I lived in Paris and danced at the Moulin Rouge. My time dancing at the Moulin Rouge allowed me to do many things; dance my dream, grow as a person, travel the world and meet some amazing people who have helped shape the person I have become. Being a part of something so beautiful and historic gives you an unbelievable feeling and it is one I have definitely drawn inspiration from when creating CASIKA. I wanted to combine the stunning costumes I wore on stage for so many years with the fashion world and it was this influence that drew me to design my first swimwear collection.
After spending many years living overseas you definitely gain a deeper appreciation of just how amazing our country is and in particular where I now call home - Sydney. I needed to form a brand that reflected all the incredible things this city has to offer. Swimwear represents a big part of our Sydney culture; our coastline, the weather and our healthy well balanced lifestyle. I saw how much our presence was missing in the overseas swimwear market and I wanted to share with the world what I feel is a unique, elegant and appealing Australian swimwear brand with a story.
I want women to feel empowered and confident when they wear my collection as the stunning fabrics and designs were created to do just that.
Thank you for your support, I will endeavour to keep supporting the Australian swimwear industry and stay true to an all Australian made and designed collection. It has been an incredible journey so far, I believe so much in CASIKA and I truly hope you love it as much as I do.
A special thank you to the very talented Jess Gibson who is the creator of the stunning BRIGHTON TIDE and JERVIS EDGE prints. www.jessica-gibson-studio.
